Jimmy M. Smith

Mr. Jimmy M. Smith, age 79, of Nicholson passed away, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Smith was born in Commerce to the late, John M. and Pearlie Mae Mathis Smith, Jr.  Mr. Smith was retired maintenance worker at Reliance, a US Army veteran, and a member of Nicholson Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Wall and Johnnie Dean Skinner; and first wife, Betty Lucile Sims Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his second wife, Sara Farmer Smith of Nicholson; daughter, Robbin S. Nunns (Jim) of Shelby, NC; son, Chris Smith (Jennifer) of Nicholson; three grandchildren, Kevin Nunns, BrookeLynn Smith, and Jayce Smith; step-children, Rhonda Culpepper (Ricky), Pierce Nelms (Janice), Pam Hendrix (Thomas), Tony Nelms (Teresa), and Michelle Roberts (Keith); step-grandchildren, Trevor, Chris, Blake, Lorali, Michael, Caleb, and Sawyer; six great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 4^th at 2 PM from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Smith officiating with the interment following at Emmanuel Community Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12- 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
