Artist Eugene "Art" Gunter

Artist Eugene “Art” Gunter, 78, of Fort Payne, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home. He was born May 11, 1945 in White County, Georgia to the late Fred Gunter and Hassie Lawson Gunter. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Sharp Real Estate and Cornerstone Real Estate. He attended Davis Chapel Baptist Church and was an avid bird hunter.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Memorial Park in Gainesville, Georgia at 12 noon (EST) on Saturday, December 9th.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Polly Gunter; sister Janet McConnell; chosen daughters Sundi Dyer and Lori Whitmire; his special pet Juli; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Joe Gunter and sister Janice Dill.
