Virginia McDonald Morgan

Virginia McDonald Morgan, age 89, of Buford, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Howard S. Morgan; parents, Charlie and Dorothy B. McDonald; sisters, Ann Herndon and Agnes Covington; brothers-in-law, Jim Harrison, Oswald Covington, and Vance Herndon.  Mrs. Morgan is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Duane Palme) Morgan of Minnesota, Donna (Eddie) Mathis of Gainesville, GA, Lorri (Ingram) Thompson of Buford, GA, and Carol (David) Shaginaw of Buford, GA; grandchildren, Brandi (Rachel) Leak of Maine, Trevor (Tonya) Leak of Minnesota, Carson (Mandy) Mathis of Gainesville, GA, Wesley (Molly) Masters of Buford, GA, Mary Grey Shaginaw of Buford, GA, and Morgan Shaginaw of Buford, GA; great-grandchildren, Lydia Leak, Logan Leak, Margot Mathis, and Joani Masters; sister, Patricia Harrison of Hamilton, Ontario Canada; brothers, George Grey (Martha) McDonald of Little Washington, NC, and Charles McDonald of Morehead, NC.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Mrs. Morgan was born June 27, 1934, in Jackson Springs, NC.  She was a graduate of West End High School, West End, NC and a graduate of Highsmith Memorial School of Nursing.  Mrs. Morgan retired from Gwinnett Hospital System as Director of Nursing after 40 years of service (35 years with Buford-General and 5 years with Gwinnett Hospital System.  She also did volunteer work for Hospice.  Mrs. Morgan was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford.  She was also a member of the Silvertones Choir and Bykota Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Buford.  She was a former member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. Morgan enjoyed Bowling, watching the Atlanta Braves, Corn Hole and playing Rummy Cube.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA. with Rev. Aaron Calvert officiating.  Interment will follow at Arbor Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Canton, GA.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
