Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Lester Ray Brooks, age 74 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Mr. Brooks was born in Jefferson, Georgia a son of the late Lester Harris Brooks and the late Lillian Gillespie Brooks Thompson. Mr. Brooks was a member of Victory Baptist Church but attended New Life Baptist, was a Mechanic and was the owner and driver of Race Car # 19 for over fifty years at local race tracks where he frequented the winners circle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks is preceded by his wife Deborah Pace Brooks, brothers; Linder “Smitty” Smith, Willie and Lloyd Brooks. Sisters, Lois Looney and Lilly Brooks.
Survivors include a daughter Nichole Sanders (Scott) of Jefferson. Brother Otis Brooks (Denise) of Jefferson. Grandchildren, Ashley Sanders and Cassidy Sanders of Jefferson. Numerous close nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 14, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Dwayne Carroll officiating with burial to follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Craig Brooks, Kent Brooks, Sammy Looney, Dale Smith, Jeff Adams, Dennis Strickland and Steve Elrod. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home.
