Irene Samples

Mrs. Irene Samples, age 90, of Homer, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024.

Irene was born August 6, 1933, in Calhoun, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Judson Stephenson and Lizzie (Sexton) Stephenson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge L. (Ed) Samples and sister, Jean Plumley.

She was of the Baptist Faith and worked alongside her husband and sons at Samples Foods in Atlanta for many years.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Denise Samples, Hoschton, Georgia; Jon and Rhonda Samples of Gainesville, Georgia; granddaughters and husbands, Staci and T.J. Oliver; Kelley and Tyler Jackson; Christin and Nathan Lee; KayLynn Samples and fiancé, Bailey Godfrey; great-grandchildren, Piper, Luke, Blaykle, Harrison, Logan and soon to be baby girl Lee. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Johnny Stone and Reverend Jon Samples will officiate.
