Mr. Dorsey Franklin, age 86 of Toccoa passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at his residence.
A son of the late Walter B. Franklin, Sr. and Gladys English Franklin, he was born June 13, 1937 in Habersham County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He owned and operated Franklin’s Market and Franklin’s Convenience Store for many years. He loved camping and loved to travel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise (Alvin) Martin, Lucille (Thomas) Morgan and Betty Mazzei, four brothers, Walter B. Franklin, Jr., Bobby (Joyce) Franklin, Tommy Franklin and Lewis Franklin and by a step-son, Joe McCurry.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Valerie Littleton McCurry Franklin; son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Heidi Franklin of Corona, California; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Doug Bigham of Central Point, Oregon; step-daughter, Lyn and Tony Bolmon of Toccoa; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Dennis Dodge officiating.

The family would like to thank special friend, Bonnie, along with the staff of Stephens County Hospital, the staff of Tugalo Home Health and the Staff of Amedisys Hospice for the care extended to Dorsey.
Interment will follow in the Chopped Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
