Chad Boyd “Cowboy” Barrett

Chad Boyd “Cowboy” Barrett, 57, of Menlo, Georgia, passed away Saturday April 20, 2024 at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia with his loving family by his side.  He fought a long and courageous fight following a farming accident.

Born December 21, 1966, Chad was raised in Dahlonega where he was a 1985 graduate of Lumpkin County High School.  He started his career working with his father at B&B Crane until starting CB Crane Service that he owned and operated for many years.  He also worked alongside his wife with C&T Cattle Co. and Hauling.  He loved riding his tractor, spending time on his farm, working cow sales, and most of all his family and being a Papa.  Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Jane Barrett and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl Dean and Marjorie Crane.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Tracy Barrett of Menlo; children, Taylor and Kelly Barrett of Dahlonega; Chloe Barrett of Menlo; grandchildren, Oakley Barrett and Boyd Barrett; sisters and brother-in-law, Tracy Echols of Gainesville; Stacy and Hunt Donaldson of Dawsonville; brother, Ted Barrett of Dawsonville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Cheryl Crane, Jason and Maranda Crane, Sheila and Dennis Brooksher, Robin and Tom Chandler, all of Dawsonville; other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2 PM at Mill Creek Baptist Church.  Rev. Jack Pilcher and Rev. Tim Sullens will officiate.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Rev. Jason Crane will officiate

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday April 23 from 4 PM until 8 PM and on Wednesday April 24 from 11 AM until 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to help offset final expenses.
