Minister Roosevelt Thornton

Obituary Date: Sunday, June 9, 2024

Minister Roosevelt Thornton, 64, of Oakwood, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on July 10, 1959 in Jackson, MS, he was the son of the late Alfonso and Rosa Lee Williams Thornton. Mr. Thornton was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed at Shasta where he was a supervisor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rochelle Ware; brother and sisters, Dorothy Dotson, Authur Thornton, Mitchell Williams, Linda Williams, Louise (Ray) King, and Alton Jr. (Dell) Williams.

Minister Thornton is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Dudley Thornton of Oakwood; son, MSgt Carlos (Tiffany) Jones of Jackson, MS; daughters, Patrice Thornton of Jackson, MS, Toni Robinson of Gainesville, Nikiki Willis of Gainesville; sister, Jackie Stewart; brothers, Jimmie (Sallie) Thornton, Harrison (Mary) Thornton, Jimmie (Edna) Williams, James (Pamela) Williams, Albert (Michele) Williams, Charles (Denise) Williams, John (Linda) Williams, Freddie (Julie) Williams,  and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren ,nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
