William Edward "Ed" Tredway

Obituary Date: Saturday, June 15, 2024

William Edward “Ed” Tredway, 57, of Dawsonville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his devoted wife of 31 years, Jody, and their beloved son, Colin, of whom he was exceedingly proud. Ed was born to Bill and Marion Tredway and was a loving son to his parents. He is also survived by a large extended family including his in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he cared for deeply.

In his youth, Ed was an avid baseball player having played in the Cape Cod league and for the Oakland A's farm team. Later in life he found great pleasure in activities such as bowling, fishing, and hunting, often watching deer graze across his lawn, enjoying the nature around him.

Ed lived a simple life, finding joy in his garden and raising chickens. Ed took pride in his work at Ingle’s in the produce department where he enjoyed his work and talking to the customers.

Animals held a special place in Ed’s heart, especially his loyal dogs Zero and Aubie, who were constant companions.  His home was a hub for countless family gatherings, where he delighted in grilling food for everyone and enjoyed the revelry with family members in playing games. He was known as “Mr. Ed” in the years that his son was in cub scouts, often helping the scouts with final touches on their pinewood derby cars.

Ed will be remembered for his unwavering devotion as a husband, father, and son, and for his deep love for his family. His legacy is one of love and genuine kindness. Ed will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May he rest in eternal peace.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Ed on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Christ Redeemer Catholic Church, Dawsonville, Georgia with Father Brian Higgins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude’s Hospital, www.stjude.org,  or a charity of your choice.
