Patricia Ann Casey D’Entremont

Obituary Date: Friday, June 28, 2024
It is with great sadness and much joy that the family of Patricia Ann Casey D’Entremont announces that she made her final journey into eternal life on Friday, June 7th 2024, her children gathered around her. She was 95; she was held in loving care for the last few years by her children and with the wonderful services of PruittHealth Hospice.

Beloved daughter of Winifred Frances Connolly Casey and Thomas Patrick Casey, she came into this world on December 22, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, the 6th of 11 children. The growing family lived in various towns around Chicago, moved to Buffalo, NY, finally settling in northern NJ where she graduated high school and earned a full scholarship for Bachelor of Humanities degree from Chestnut Hill College. She met her beloved Phil in the Immaculate Conception Church choir in 1950, and they married there in 1955. With Phil, she raised their six children, eventually settling in the hills of Northeast Georgia.

Pat has always had a heart of service and we first became aware of this when she set an example through the gifts she gave young children of her friends in New Jersey. Early mornings on the day of their first communions, Pat would leave decorated lamb cakes on their front porches, a delightful and unexpected surprise on their special day. Pat’s volunteer work started in New Jersey, including Queen of Angels Parish in Newark, and continued in Habersham by helping in the early days of our local Habitat for Humanity as well as Sharing and Caring and the soup kitchens. In recognition of these and many other gifts to the community, she was honored to carry the Olympic torch in 1996.

Enthusiasm for classical music and Broadway musicals instilled a deep love of music in all her kids. With all her grandparents immigrating from Ireland in the mid to late 1800s, she passed down a great love of all things Irish. Her computer password was Erin go Brach.

In her later years, Pat loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren and great grands. Her heart of service, love of learning, deep knowledge, sharp mind, great wit, and loving devotion to her family are remembered with love and gratitude by us all. Her love lives on in our hearts.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phil D'Entremont, her siblings and in-laws, Bill & Mary Alice Casey, Tom Casey, Jack & Peggy Casey, Mariwyn & Bud Baker, Frank & Hazel Casey, Peggy & Bob Duff, Bob & Mary Casey, Vinny & Pat Casey, G Lynn Scott, and granddaughter Maria Joy d'Entremont.

Survivors include her beloved sons Jim d'Entremont (Maggie) of Asheville and Bill D’Entremont (Inez) of Gillsville, beloved daughters Mary D’Entremont of Clarkesville, Ann Sutton (Randy) of the Batesville community, Joan D’Entremont (Al Schlimm) of Weaverville, NC and Miriam “Mimi” Clark (Cary) of Mount Airy, beloved brother Joseph Casey (Adeline), and sister Elizabeth Casey Scott, grandchildren Andrew d’Entremont, John Santangelo (Rachel), Daniel Santangelo (Traci), Jenny Bardóczi, (Adam), Sam d’Entremont (Mary Austin), Jenna Hinkle (Brent), Jeremy Sutton (Kristin), Joe Sutton (Jessy), Annelise Kopp, Daniel Kopp, Sarah Clark, Annabelle Clark, Ashley Sanchez, Amber Clark and Jason Townsend, as well as 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Memorial mass for Pat will held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville on July 2nd. Visitation will be at 10, Mass at 11 followed by reception/meal in the fellowship hall and cemetery at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Patricia D’Entremont to Clarkesville Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia, Sharing and Caring, or Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Penn.
