Ora Jean Thompson

Mrs. Ora Jean Thompson, 83, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Harry Barron will officiate. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on January 30, 1941 in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Brown and Dora Gerrin Brown. She was a retired caregiver for a nursing home. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Lula Congregational Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, John William Thompson, Jr.; son, Ricky Robert Thompson; daughter, Melissa Lynn Burnette; brother, Tommy S. Brown and sister, Brenda Gail Scott.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter and son in law, Margaret Michelle and Willard Darryl Burnette of Gainesville; son and daughter in law, William Renee and Diane Rea Thompson of Union, MO; grandchildren, Crystal Lynn Diaz, Michael Thompson, Jessica Rocque, Ashley Thompson, John Allen, Jacob Burnette; sisters, Patricia Ann Loggins of Cleveland, Clara Free of Baldwin and a number of other loving relatives.
