Mavis Holman Phillips, age 90, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Billy Ray Phillips; mother, Cara Burl Homan; father John Holman; sisters, Ricki Holman Smith, Sandra Holman; brothers, Kenneth Holman, Jeffery Holman, Jimmy Holman. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her sons, Ray (Dale) Phillips of Union City, SC, Derek (Wanda) Phillips of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Sean (Samantha) Phillips, Emily (Rob) D’Urso, Rebekah (Bryan) Curran, Shawn Griffin, Lincoln Griffin, Kristi (Brent) Bridger, David (Mackenzie) Simmons, Spencer Simons; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Johnny) Pendley of Buford, GA, Betty (Henry) Phillips of Pendergrass, GA, Barbara Phillips of Buford, GA, Sybil Phillips of Maysville, GA; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Edith) Phillips of Pendergrass, GA, Jerry (Mary) Phillips of Watkinsville, GA, Wayne Phillips of Auburn, GA; brother, Randy (Linda) Holman of Arkansas.

Mrs. Phillips was born July 21, 1934 in Buford, GA. She graduated from Thomaston High School. Mrs. Phillips was a retired Bookkeeper from Coats & Clark Co. She also worked for Green’s Fuel Company in Lawrenceville, GA. Mrs. Phillips was a long-time member of Duncan Creek Congregational Church in Buford, GA. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and spending time with her family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Duncan Creek Congregational Church Cemetery, 3868 Braselton Hwy, Buford, Ga. 30519, with Rev. Jody Everett officiating. The family will receive friends at the Duncan Creek Fellowship Hall from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
