Luther Alvin Hughes Jr. Lunsford

Mr. Luther Alvin Hughes Jr. Lunsford, age 74, of Wolf Pen Gap Rd, Suches, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a brief illness. Mr. Lunsford was born January 26, 1950, in Suches, GA, the son of the late Luther Hughes and the late Flossie Griffin Hughes. Also, following the death of his mother, he was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, McKinley Lunsford, and Mamie Lunsford. Also preceded in death are his daughter Jessica Lunsford, brother David Hughes, brother Daniel Hughes, and sister Nancy June Carter.

Surviving Mr. Lunsford is his loving wife of 33 years, Katie Pruitt Lunsford, sons Ronnie (Candy) Lunsford, Robert Lunsford, Tommy Lunsford, daughters Rhonda Lunsford Haire (Dee), and Jennifer Lunsford Eisner(Billy). Also surviving are grandchildren Jonathon Adams, Lauren Adams Cobb(Jonathon), Sarah Lunsford Sullens(Brandon), Ryan Lunsford, Adam Lunsford, Noah Lunsford, Levi Lunsford, Micah Lunsford, Travis Lunsford, Joseph Russo, William Eisner, Alainna Eisner, Christian Lunsford, Kaden Haubner, Lincoln Lunsford, and Kyla Lunsford. Surviving great grandchildren are Presley Gilreath and Corbin Walker. Surviving also are brothers M.T. Hughes(Helen) and Marvin Hughes(Jan), sister Tommie Gooch, mother in law Nell Pruitt, brother in law Ernie Pruitt(Melissa), sister in laws Penny Abernathy, Peggy Garrett(Arlen), Eddie Pruitt, Cathy Beck(Lamar), and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

From his young life being chased by revenuers, to serving his country in the U.S. Army , plowing snow off of the mountain roads for the Georgia Department of Transportation, to loving his wife, children, grandchildren, and pets, or helping a friend, he was the testament of a great man. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. Heaven has met him with new beginnings, and reunited him with loved ones gone. His love and passion will live on beyond his years here on earth. He touched everyone who knew him. Arrangements are with Anderson Underwood Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, August 5, 2024 at Anderson-Underwood Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Suches, GA.
