Bernice Elizabeth Harkins

Mrs. Bernice Elizabeth Harkins, 94, of Gainesville passed away Friday, August 30, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Sunday, September 1, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Lamar Purcell will officiate. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. 

Born on November 11, 1929 in Hall County, GA, Mrs. Harkins was the daughter of the late Howard Moore and Minnie Hortense Miller Moore.

Mrs. Harkins was retired. She along with her husband Leonard owned and operated Harkins Donut Shop. Mrs. Harkins was well known for her cakes and hot donuts. She baked many wedding and birthday cakes for her family and friends. She loved to travel and was always ready to go.

She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harkins was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Harkins; brothers, Aaron, J.D., Bob, Terry, Clyde, Albert, and baby boy Junior and sisters, Ruby Nell Smith and Blonnie Davis

Mrs. Harkins is survived by her daughters, Patsy Shubert of Gainesville, Peggy Tanner (Larry) of Buford, Carolyn Parks (Donnie) of Gainesville, Dianne Gaddy –Smith (Randy) of Gainesville, Donna Kemp (Robin) of Flowery Branch; her sons, Lenny Harkins of Gainesville, Chris Harkins of Oakwood; 17 grandchildren and many other loving relatives.
