Hazel Armilda (Bailey) Dopp

Born one of eleven children on October 14, 1923, in Oswego, New York, Hazel Armilda (nee Bailey) Dopp was an accomplished homemaker, a past Noble Grand of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, a Girl Scout Leader, worker for Unionville United Church, an untiring home room mother, and public school and American Field Service volunteer. In addition, she raised four children in the home she helped build by hand with her late husband, Maurice, in Geneva, Ohio. She enjoyed her family most of all, but she also took pleasure in being an exercise instructor, baking, cooking, sewing, needlework, oil painting, reading, bowling leagues, entertaining people, and traveling. She passed away on September 24, 2024, in Oakwood, Georgia.

She is survived by three children: David Dopp, Sr. (Diana) of Somerset, Kentucky; Linda Gillot (Edgar, Sr.) of Gainesville, Georgia; and Susan Seymour (James, Jr.) of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Other survivors include grandchildren: David Dopp, Jr. (Mary), Denelle Miller (Robert), Darien Dopp (Karen Green), and Brian Dopp (Renate); Paula Nocera (Ron), Amanda McDonald (John), and Edgar Gillot, Jr. (Brandy); Thomas Krewson (Trisha), Kyle Krewson (Megan), Tanna Jones (Huw); Jennifer Aroozi (Jamie), Christopher Corby, and Tyler Corby (Mary). Many, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, and by her parents, Mary (nee Beebe) Bailey and William Bailey. Also preceding her were her daughter Deborah (nee Dopp) Krewson, her grandson Eric Dopp, and her great-granddaughter Robyn Elizabeth (nee Miller) Dover as well as her brothers: William, Clarence, Raymond, Francis, and Charles Bailey and sisters: Esther Rice, Gladys Van Horn, Edith McQuaid, Edna Burza, and Helen Lehmann.

Visitation will be held in Gainesville, Georgia at Little-Davenport Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28 from 2:00-4:00 pm. A light reception will follow at the funeral home. Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home will handle interment arrangements in Rural Cemetery in Oswego, New York.
