Dennis Lee Prewitt

Obituary Date: Saturday, October 19, 2024

Dennis Lee Prewitt, born on September 19, 1941, in Seymour, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home in Flowery Branch, GA, on October 19, 2024, at the age of 83. He was the beloved son of James Guy Prewitt and Lela Faye (Hitch) Prewitt, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Prewitt.

Dennis leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Bobby (Ward) Prewitt. She was the great love of his life, and together they built a life rich in family, adventure, and cherished memories.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Yurii) Henriques of Cornelia, GA, and his son, Tim (Audra) Prewitt of Montclair, NJ. He was the proud and loving grandfather to Kathryn Henriques of Lexington, KY; Nathaniel (Blake) Henriques of Smyrna, GA; Emily Henriques of Birmingham, AL; Hannah Henriques and Amy Henriques of Cornelia, GA; and Oliver “Bimi” Prewitt and Atticus “Mo” Prewitt of Montclair, NJ.

Dennis earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Illinois and went on to serve his country with honor as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.

A lifelong learner and a man of many talents, Dennis had a fulfilling career with Eastman Kodak Company in Technical Sales, followed by a later chapter working at Apple Computer Store in sales and service. As much as he accomplished in his professional career, more important to him was his military service. Later in life, Dennis served as a volunteer docent at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL, where he shared his love for aviation and proudly admired the Blue Angels.

Dennis was a lover of music and technology, and known as a problem-solver with an unparalleled knack for fixing anything mechanical, always ready to lend a hand.

A devoted family man, Dennis delighted in his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He was also famous for his “Dad jokes,” much to the delight (and groans) of his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held on November 8th, 2024 in Columbus, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or The Hunger Project in his name.
