Bonnie Otis Roberts

Mr. Bonnie O. Roberts, age 99, of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lonia Porter Roberts; grandson, Tristan Roberts; parents, Wiley Otis and Minnie Westbrooks Roberts; sisters, Lucille Maddox, Margaret Kirkpatrick; brothers, George Roberts, Dewey Roberts, and Hardy Roberts.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his children, Susan (Paul) Pirkle, Sidney (Junyan) Roberts, Stacy (Keith) Cross, Terry (Deanna) Roberts; grandchildren, Mark (Mariana) Pirkle, Lynne (Rick) Storm, Andrew (Britni) Cross, Alaina (Austin) Caton, Cody Roberts; great-grandchildren, Alec (Kaitlyn) Pirkle, Kalli (Will) Cleveland, Rian Pirkle, Skylar Hux, Scarlett Caton, Avery Caton, Parker Dougherty, Brooks Cross, Noah Cross; sister-in-law, Imogene Porter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Roberts was born August 31, 1925 in Buford, GA. He received his education at Sugar Hill School. Mr. Roberts was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Airforce for a total of two years. He was retired from the V.A. Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He had worked in three different V.A. hospitals in Atlanta; Lawson General, The Old 48, and the current V.A. Hospital on Clairmont Rd., from which he retired after 33-1/2 years of service. After retirement, Mr. Roberts built bird houses and sold them to the public in front of his home on Buford Highway. Mr. Roberts was the oldest member of Old Suwanee Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Old Suwanee Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Old Suwanee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA.
