Jerome "Jerry" Blaner Wolff

Obituary Date: Sunday, October 27, 2024

Mr. Jerome “Jerry” Blaner Wolff, age 73, of Hoschton passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer for the last 1.5 years and sadly lost his fight, surrounded by his family.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Celebration Church, 5560 Thompson Mill Road, Hoschton, GA 30548.  Jerry loved this church and was a very active member. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the building fund in his name at celebrationfamily.com.

Jerry was born May 15, 1951 to the late John M. & Florence I. Wolff in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His father was a retired U.S. Navy Captain. He was one of eight children and attended Bishop’s Latin School, Diocese of Pittsburgh, for high school. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science at Dayton University in Ohio, and later a Master’s of Science at Eastern Kentucky University. He commissioned into the United States Army in 1974 and served in the Military Police Corps. He spent the majority of his career in Georgia and Alabama, to include completion of U.S. Army Infantry School, Airborne Training, at Fort Benning. He also spent time overseas in Germany and South Korea. After 20 faithful years, he retired in 1994, as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He met his first wife, Kathy, at Eastern Kentucky University. Jerry put up a flyer at the school to find car poolers who would contribute to gas money, and Kathy and her roommate responded. They married and he later became a father to his only child, John, in 1985. They were married until August 2007 when she unfortunately died from breast cancer.  Mutual friends introduced Jerry and Chun in 2008 and they were married in June 2009.

Jerry was an avid runner, completing several Peachtree Road Races in Atlanta. He still wore his old race T-shirts from the early 1990’s up until he died, much to the amusement of his granddaughters, who loved to tease him about his small wardrobe on rotation. He enjoyed riding his bicycle up and down Friendship Road and later converted to an electric bike when his strength began to fade. Some of his favorite television shows included Seinfeld, The Big Bang Theory and Star Trek. He was often heard by Chun, singing in the shower, and created a funny version of the song, Happy Birthday, that his grandkids still like to sing.

He is survived by his wife, Chun Wolff; son, John M. Wolff; step-daughters, Lesley Algert & Ann-Marie Paz; sisters, Joy Koplinski, Nadine Wolff, & Celeste Collier; brother, J. Craig Wolff; step-son-in-law, Dan Algert and 2 granddaughters, Rowan and Sydney Algert.

He will be deeply missed but his memory will live on with experiences and moments that make us think about him until we all meet again.
