Charles Curtis Clark

Obituary Date: Friday, November 1, 2024

Charles Curtis Clark of Flowery Branch passed away peacefully Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 94 surrounded by his two daughters. He was a beloved Christian man, husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family.

Curtis was born on January 24, 1930, in Flowery Branch, Georgia to the late Claude and Euzella Clark.  Growing up as one of nine children on a farm in south Hall County, he learned how to work hard, persevere and sacrifice for others. Those characteristics would mark him for the rest of his life and lead him to serve his country as a tank machinist during the Korean Conflict and corporal in the U.S. Army and Reserves from 1951-1956.  After his military service ended, he began a 30-year long career working for General Motors. During his time at General Motors, he pursued his passion for auto repair by opening a successful small business “Curtis Clark Auto Repair” serving the community, family and friends.

Throughout his life, he always sacrificed to make life better for his family and was often working at multiple jobs or on his small farm raising cattle and caring for the land. After retirement, he continued his passion for farm life and was often seen driving the tractor, tending to the garden or watching NASCAR.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his granddaughter Isabella and always put family first. He was an active member of Sugar Hill Methodist Church, member of the Friendship Sunday school class and the Sonshine Circle.

Curtis is preceded in death by his much loved wife Virigina of 67 years, his parents, Claude and Euzella Clark, sisters Helen Clark Gilleland and Mary Clark Turk, brothers, Bronson Clark, Harlan Clark, Kenneth Clark, Ray Clark and J.N. Clark.  He leaves behind daughters and sons-in law, Betsy and Bob Turner, Jeanie and Parkes Hughes and beloved granddaughter Isabella Hughes.  He is also survived by his sister Larue Clark Crowe and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Pastor Steve Wood will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Rd, Gainesville, GA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Eagle Ranch, https://www.eagleranch.org/memorial-gift , P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.
