Melville Kurt Freeman, age 86, of Maysville, Georgia, entered into the presence of the Lord on November 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 2, 1938, in Albany, California, Melville lived a life marked by devotion, service, and  Christian compassion for others.

A dedicated leader in his professional life, Melville served as the Director of the Antelope Valley Rehabilitation Center in Los Angeles, California. His commitment to bettering the lives of those he worked with was evident in every aspect of his career. He further embodied his spirit of service through his military service in the United States Navy, contributing to the nation he loved.

Beyond his professional achievements, Melville's proudest accomplishments included missionary work to the Cree Indians of Canada  and the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, along with his role as Chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol and  to the Christian Jail Workers. These endeavors showcased his unwavering faith and dedication to serving his community and Lord.

A faithful member of Victory Baptist Church in Jefferson, Georgia, Melville found strength and joy in his church community, where he shared his faith with others. His hobbies and interests were a reflection of his love for God and for people, and they were an integral part of his daily life.

Melville is survived by his wife Peggy Collins Freeman of 64 years; son, Erich Freeman and Holly Freeman; and his daughters, Celisa Edwards and Pastor Curtis Edwards, and DeLyn Nichols. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Melville and Hazel Robertson Freeman.

The family will receive visitors on November 16, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Freeman Residence in Maysville, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Victory Baptist Church in Jefferson, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Shining Light Baptist Academy at Victory Baptist Church of Jefferson, Georgia. Those donations will be used to further local Christian education. 

The legacy of Melville Kurt Freeman will live on through his six grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, the faith he spread, and the love he gave. He will be remembered not only for his love for his family and ministry, but also for the warmth and decency that defined his character.
