Charlie "Gene" Martin

Charlie "Gene" Martin, age 59, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024. Gene was born on August 7, 1965, in Gainesville, Georgia, to Charlotte Fortner Martin and Roy Martin, who survive him.

Gene's life was a testament to kindness and compassion. Known for his warm and friendly nature, he never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He cherished his family deeply and had a special bond with his nephew Aedan, who kept him updated on the weather, a highlight of Gene's days.

Gene is also survived by his siblings, Cheryl Welborn of Alto, Roy Martin Jr. (Charie) of Dahlonega, and Angela Thomas (Joey) of Cleveland. He was a beloved uncle to his nephews, Justin Welborn, Austin Thomas, and Aedan Thomas of Cleveland. Numerous friends and extended family members will remember Gene's gentle spirit and generous heart.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Philippi Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on the same day at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM.

Gene will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
