Jerry Sue Stanley Shockley, 82 of Lula went home to be with The Lord December 16, 2024.
She was born September 16, 1942 in Catlettsburg, KY to the late Harold Jerry Stanley and Bonita Shortridge Stanley. Mrs. Shockley was preceded in death by her husband, Jim (Wayne) Shockley after 63 years of marriage.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Jimmy Wayne Shockley, Jr. and Connie, of Carnesville; daughter and son-in-law Patti Blalock and Mike, of Cleveland; son Keith Shockley, of Lula; grandson Clayton Shockley and wife Lisa, of Lula; grandson Andrew Shockley, of Carnesville, great grandson Walker Wayne Shockley, of Lula; sister-in-law Jean Shockley Norris, of Gainesville; brother-and sister-in-law Charles and Agnes Shockley, of Gainesville; special cousins Nancy Wells and Katana Bowling, of Kentucky; step children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren Leah and Matt Ralston, of Gainesville, Kyle Dalton, of Athens, Wyatt and Hawkins Ralston, of Gainesville. Presley Blalock, Dalton Blalock (Jesse), Parker Reed, of Tiger and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jerry Sue moved to Florida from Kentucky where she met the love of her life, Jim. They wed in Cocoa Beach Florida, then relocated to Lula, Georgia where they started their
family and made their life together.
After retiring from Liberty Mutual Insurance company, she and Jim enjoyed many years spoiling their grandsons and always helping anyone in need.
Jerry Sue never met a stranger and she had many, many friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her. A devout woman of God who always put others before herself.
She was a founding member of Lula Worship Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 12:00 until 2:00 followed by a graveside service at Westview Cemetery in Lula at 3:00. Reverend Charles Grant and Reverend Bobby Griffin will officiate.
