Thomas "Tommy" Patrick Harkins

Thomas "Tommy" Patrick Harkins, age 60, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024. Born on January 18, 1960, in Marietta, Georgia, he was the beloved son of the late Patricia Ann Kiley Harkins and Thomas "Austin" Harkins.

In addition to his mother, Tommy was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary "Maggie" Magdaline Smith Harkins; Ida Pauline "Polly" Harkins; niece and nephew Amy Lynn Schwalls Latty and Thomas Alfred Harkins; and brother-in-law David Cane.

He is survived by his father, Thomas "Austin" Harkins, and his cherished children: Candace Marie Fields Hall (Johnathon), Josh Smith (Brandi), and Keisha Smith. Tommy was a proud grandfather to Mary and Phenix Fields, Travis Hall, and Trinity, Lacy, and Jackson Smith, all of whom brought him immense joy. 

Tommy is also survived by his siblings: Rita Cane, Paul and Wanda Harkins, Laney and Etta Harkins, Joe and Julie Harkins, Tammie and Bobby Champe, Tina Cunningham, Tonya and Carl Satterfield, and Venus Wilson; and a very dear friend, Melissa Ann Rodgers. Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive. 

Tommy was a family man through and through. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, like camping, swimming, and cooking out with those he loved most. A tireless worker, Tommy was known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had a heart as big as his love for his family and friends, and his kindness and laughter will leave a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home on December 28, 2024, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
