Thomas Joseph McGuire

Mr. Thomas Joseph McGuire, age 83 of Manor Oak Trail, Toccoa passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

A son of the late Frank J. McGuire and Catherine Kelly McGuire, he was born June 18, 1941 in Bronx, New York having lived most of his life in Iselin, New Jersey before moving to Toccoa in 2006.  He was retired from Merck and Company where he was an electrical engineer and later the department head for the utilities. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. While in college, he was an athletic coach for swimming and football.  He loved playing guitar, loved fishing and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Patricia Kaus McGuire; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Michael Cotter of Wellington, Florida and Patricia and Robert Vollmer of Ashley Falls, Massachusetts; two sons and daughter-in-law, Frank McGuire of Toccoa and Damian and Carolyn McGuire of Little Silver, New Jersey; grandchildren, Michael Cotter, Peyton McGuire, Carter McGuire, Emmett Vollmer and Evelyn Vollmer; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Sandra McGuire of Geneva, New York; sister, Margaret McGuire (Chris Mele) of Lords Valley, Pennsylvania; a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, December 28, 2024, 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Clinic, 109 Big A Road, Toccoa, Georgia 30577in memory of Mr. Thomas Joseph McGuire. 

His wishes were to be cremated. No service will be held.
