Mary Helen Williams

Mary Helen Williams was 78 years old when her courageous battle with cancer ended on Thursday, January 16, 2025. She was born on August 17, 1946 in Galveston, Texas. She moved to Buford in 1960, and attended Buford High School, graduating in the class of 1965, and retiring from the Buford City School System.

She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Opal Pugh Martinez; brother, Lupe Anthony “Tony” Martinez; daughter-in-law, Linda Reynolds Martinez.

Mary Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband of 58 ½ years, Douglas Ray Williams, Sr, son, Douglas Ray Williams, Jr and wife Cherie; grandchildren, Madison and Dustin Clack, Mackenzie, Lauren Williams; great grandchildren, Lillian Marie and Diana Rose Clack, and Giovanni Corales Ruiz; brother-in-law, Paul Williams, Jr (Jenny); sister-in-law, Farris W. Orr; uncle, Jimmy Pugh; and nieces, Connie M (Paul) Dennis. Other cousins, nieces, nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24 from 2;00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 25 from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at 3:00 p.m.
