Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Brenda Byers Smith, age 84 of Dacula, Georgia who entered rest Friday, January 17, 2025. Mrs. Smith was born in Algood, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Marsh G. and Emma Bethel West Byers and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Smith taught third grade Sunday School for twenty plus years, participated in countless Bible Studies throughout her life and mot recently started a prayer group at Arbor Terrace. Mrs. Smithstarted her professional career at Savings and Loan Bank and was quickly recruited to GM by an executive. She took time off to stay at home with the children and then worked as a Payroll Clerk for the University of Michigan Hospital retiring after twenty years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband Harry Robert Smith, brother, Glen Byers, and sisters, Helen Brown and Shirley Hearnsberger.
Survivors include two daugthers, Raegan Thorp (David) of Marietta and Brittany Napier (James) of Buford. Son, Rhett Robert Smith (Nickie) of Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Six grandchildren who knew Mrs. Smith as Grandma Bebe, Leighton, Piper, Brock, Sophie, London and Dekker also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 20, 2025 from the Paron United Methodist Church in CookevilleTennessee with Deacon Ken Hutchinson officiating, burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the Church.
