Wayne Smith

Wayne Smith, 83, of Dawsonville, GA passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Born October 9, 1941, in Atlanta to the late Horace and Iris Smith, he had lived in Dawson County for the past four years having moved from the Lake Oconee Area.  Wayne retired as an Airline Technician for Delta Airlines following 30 years of service.  Following his retirement from Delta, he formed Lakeshore Homes and built upscale homes in the Lake Oconee Area.  An avid UGA fan, he was a season ticket holder for 55 years.  He enjoyed Drag Racing and had served as a pit crew member for Neighbors Automotive. One of his passions was traveling, especially out West.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Lyn Smith, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Kim and Jeff Fleming, Dawsonville; grandson, Cody Fleming, Dawsonville; sister, Beverly Smith, Hendersonville, NC; brother and sister in law, Russell Smith and Marilyn Montgomery, Watkinsville, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Steve Wallace and Jerald Bishop will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 6 at the funeral home.
