Mrs. Ruby Brooks, age 79, of Buford, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

No Service information is announced at this time.

Ruby was born on Wednesday, May 9, 1945, to Mr. Ralph Teems and Mrs. Opal May Teems in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Jude A Brooks, her Mother Opal Spaulding, her brothers Bill Bennett, Jimmy Teems and Herschel Teems, her sisters Katherine Curtis and Helen Moore.

Ruby was one of six children, and resided in many locations to include New Jersey, Arizona, Washington State, South Carolina and finally Georgia. Most of her life, she lived in Ephrata, Washington, where her husband Jude worked as a long haul truck driver. She relocated to South Carolina to be closer to family upon retirement. After her husband Jude’s passing, she lived with her son in Buford, Georgia.

She worked in various positions within the food processing industry, including Lamb Weston and Columbia Foods. She also provided care for the elderly. As she was not one to sit idle, always exhibiting a strong work ethic, “giving a full day’s work for a full day’s pay.”

Growing up, life was not always easy for Ruby, but she possessed a strong determination to succeed and provide a life for herself and her son. During periods of time, she was a single mother with strong connections to her siblings. She became the family monarch, holding things together when times were tough, and the person everyone went to in time of need.

Ruby was strong willed and often called stubborn. She was filled with pride and love for her family, who she would protect at any cost. To her, family was everything. If you were a close friend, your were considered family. She never wanted anyone to be left out or alone, often inviting a stranger to the table.

Towards the end of her life, Ruby was greatly supported by the Ivy Springs Manor staff, Anthony Whitehouse, and Melanie Matlock, to who she was grateful to have in her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Jude’s in her honor.
