Mary Lee Scheitlin Moak

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Mary Lee Scheitlin Moak, age 80, of Jefferson, Georgia, who passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Mrs. Moak was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter to the late Roy Melvin Scheitlin Sr. and the late Dora Lee Edwards Scheitlin.

Mrs. Moak was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, earning a bachelor’s degree, and was a teacher for thirty years. During her career in education, she taught at Rita Elementary School in Knox County, TN, West End Elementary in Milledgeville, GA, Burney-Harris Lyons Middle School in Athens, GA and St. Jospeh Catholic  School in Athens, GA. Mrs. Moak was also a member of the Talmo Baptist Church in Talmo, GA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moak was preceded in death by her husband, John Stephen Moak, and her brother, Roy Melvin Scheitlin Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Chinn and her husband Kevin of Jefferson; son, David Moak of Jefferson; grandchildren, Davis Moak, Sarabeth Moak, Charlie Moak all of Jefferson; sister in law, Dorothy Scheitlin of Radcliff, KY, three nieces, Amy Scheitlin, Becky Harrell and Janet Ballard also survive.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Talmo Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Spence officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00AM, prior to the service, in the Talmo Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery.
