Mary L. Dobbs

Mary L. Dobbs, of Gainesville, Georgia, died in the early hours of Dec. 27, 2024.

Celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel.

Mary was born on July 17, 1930 to Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Lancaster. Mary lived the majority of her life in Gainesville, Ga.

She met George C. Dobbs at Gainesville High School. They married Dec. 21, 1952. Mary and George were married for 60 years. Mary graduated from Georgia State College for Women. She majored in Dance and minored in Education. She danced with the college's Modern Dance Company. Mary taught Ballroom Dance to 6th and 7th graders for years and taught Modern Dance at Brenau University for 10 years. The Gainesville Ballet actually started in Mary's dance studio which George built for her. Mary danced anywhere she could and is surely dancing in heaven now.
 

Mary served on the Lanier Tech Board and the Young Life Board. She served as a volunteer for the Northeast Ga. Medical Center for several years. Mary was named Gracious Lady of Georgia for her service in various areas. She loved to entertain and had many business functions for George's business. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church and also taught Bible Studies. She was a member of The Joy Sunday School class.
 

Mary is survived by her children, Michael C. Dobbs (Robin), Kimberly D. Adams (Johnny), and Kellin B. Dobbs; Nine grandchildren, Erin Livingston (Dan), Suzanne Dobbs, Kate Dobbs, and Michael Dobbs (Fran); Davis Dobbs Drake Dobbs, Brenden Adams (Lisa), Brian Adams, and Alicia Herndon (Keller) and 7 Great Grandchildren.
 

The family gives their thanks and gratitude to Kim Griffin for his love, care and kindness to our mom.
