William (Bill) Jack Mize

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. William (Bill) Jack Mize, age 83 of Sautee. Mr. Mize passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Prim officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery

Mr. Mize was born September 3, 1925 in Banks County, Georgia, the son of Paul & Viola Fowler Mize

He served as a radio/communications operator in the U.S. Navy during World War II followed by a tour in the U.S. Air Force. He sang in the choir and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Warner Robins, Georgia. Mr. Mize retired from Atlanta Gas Company after 34 years service where he served as Manager of the Liquid Gas (LNG) Plant in Jones County. He had been a resident of Sautee Nacoochee since October 2001

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Wanda Newsom Mize and sisters, Maxine Orser and Bea Brooks

Survivors include his wife of Irene Wendt Mize of Sautee Nacoochee; daughter, Dr. Jacquelyn Mize-Pettit of Auburn, AL.; sons, William Wendt of Milledgeville, GA.and Donald Wendt of Cleveland; brother, Ed Mize of Salt Lake City, UT.; Grandsons, Stefan Pettit of Auburn, AL. and Jeremiah Wendt of Cleveland; granddaughters, Wendy Wendt of Sautee Nacoochee and Kari Pennington of Cleveland, one great grandson; two great granddaughters, three nieces and two nephews

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM
