Hazel Lorene McCollum Fisher

Hillside Memorial Chapel announces the death of Mrs. Hazel Lorene McCollum Fisher, age 82, of Clarkesville who passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Heritage Health Care.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2009 from the Cool Springs United Methodist Church with Reverend Steve McIntyre and Reverend Garvis Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.


Born May 01, 1926 in Habersham County, Mrs. Fisher was the daughter of the late General Price and Birdie Church McCollum. Mrs. Fisher was a nursing assistant at Habersham Home and was a member of the Cool Springs United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas William Fisher; sister, Celestine Nicholson, and brothers, Reeves McCollum and Lewis McCollum.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and George Vandergriff of Clarkesville; Deborah and Glenn Jordan of Toccoa; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas William and Becky Fisher of Clarkesville; Tim and Dawn Fisher of Gainesville; brothers, G.P. McCollum and Johnnye G. McCollum of Clarkesville; Curtis McCollum of Buford; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel, 5495 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2009.
