Floyd Miller

McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia, announces the death of Floyd Miller, age 66 of Clarkesville, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.


Born in Scaley Mountain, North Carolina January 21, 1943, he was the son of Frances Mason Miller and the late William David Miller.


Mr. Miler was a carpenter for 35 years and also the head of maintenance at Tallulah Falls for ten years. He served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of the Clarkesville Church of God and he enjoyed woodworking and listening to gospel music. He also was a 2nd degree black belt, having been a martial arts instructor for 14 years, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.


Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Lessie Miller of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Stephen Heimberger of Clarkesville; son, Timothy Miller of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Tammy Miller of Clarkesville; mother, Frances Mason Miller of Baldwin; brother, Truie Miller of Dillard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Doris Miller of Clayton, and Elbert and Jean Miller of Mount Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Benny Evans of Baldwin; grandchildren: Tara Heimberger, Timothy Miller, Jr., and Trevor Miller.


Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday 07, 2009 at Clarkesville Church of God with Reverend Jarvis Bennett, Reverend Ralph Smith and Reverend Tim Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Turnerville Church of God cemetery in Hollywood with full military honors provided by VFW Post #7720 of Cornelia; American Legion Post #84; and the Rabun County DAV Chapter #15.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 05, 2009; and from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM unil 8:00 PM on Friday, February 06, 2009. The family is at the residence.
