Ellene Loudermilk Wilbanks Perry, age 85 of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at The Oaks at Scenic View following an extended illness.
Born in Habersham County on October 10, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rosa LaCount Loudermilk. Mrs. Perry was a very active and devoted member of Glade Creek Baptist Church who loved gardening, sewing and flowers. She was retired from Habersham Mills with over 25 years of service. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Winslow Wilbanks; second husband, Carl W. Perry; grandson, Todd Wilbanks and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Winston and Catherine Wilbanks of Mt. Airy, Roy Lee and Cora Lee Wilbanks of Greenwood, SC, Johnny Ervin and Juanita Wilbanks of Lula, Ralph William and Effie Wilbanks of Mt Airy; sons, Bobby Ray Wilbanks of Mt. Airy and Ernest Homer Wilbanks of Homer; step son and spouse, Travis and Barbara Perry of Mt. Airy; brothers, Garrison W. Loudermilk of Eaton, GA and James Loudermilk of Mt. Airy; sisters, Wilma Edwards of Toccoa, Dorothy Lathan of Clarkesville, Margie Nichols of Alpharetta and Eunice Smith of Mt. Airy; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2009 from Glade Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Thomas and Rev. Michael Justus officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Anthony Cook officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Wednesday.
