Jacob Cornelis Van der Wiel

Jacob Cornelis Van der Wiel, age 83 of Habersham Walk, Gainesville, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Bruce Fields will officiate.

Mr. Van der Wiel was born August 17, 1925 in Schiedam, the Netherlands to the late Bastiaan Van der Wiel and Magdalena Verschoor Van der Wiel. He moved to Gainesville in 1992 with his wife Jean McCurdy Van der Wiel. After the passing of Jean in 1995, he married Millie Mae Burdette Kuhn in 1997. Mr. Van der Wiel retired from Harza Engineering as a Civil Engineer. He will be remembered with love and respect by all.

Mr. Van der Wiel is survived by his wife, Millie Mae Van der Wiel of Gainesville, daughters, Lucy Van der Wiel Miller of Concord, MA and Grace Van der Wiel of Atlanta, sons, John Van der Wiel of Plano, TX and Don Van der Wiel of Carmel, IN, 6 grandchildren, and sister Bea Van der Wiel Dinkelaar of the Netherlands.
