Nancy Lee Greenwood Payne

Funeral services for Nancy Lee Greenwood Payne, age 69, of Clarkesville will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 2:00 PM from Hollywood Baptist Church. Pastor Don Samples and Rev. Steve Cowart will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Payne passed away March 14, 2009.

Born in Detroit, Michigan on October 5, 1939, Mrs. Payne was the daughter of the late Roy and Julia Irene Greenwood. Mrs. Payne attended Georgia Industrial Institute and graduated from Brenau University with a BSN degree in Nursing. She worked at Habersham Medical Center and Banks-Jackson-Commerce Hospital. Mrs. Payne loved reading and music and was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by brother Robin Greenwood and sister Jackie Jones.

Survivors include her husband James Ira Payne of Clarkesville, daughters and sons in law Jennifer and Shaker Batarsen of Kennesaw, Julia and Greg Griffin of Killeen, Texas, and Della and Bret Modisette of Grand Prairie, Texas, brothers Kenny Greenwood of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Lindy Greenwood of Port Charlotte, Florida, sisters Barbara Mack of South Lyon, Michigan, and Pat Hackney of Englewood, Florida, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5495 Highway 197 S. Clarkesville, on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.
