Frank Willis Wood

Frank Willis Wood, age 92, of Cornelia, GA passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009 following an extended illness.

Mr. Wood was born in Habersham County on February 24, 1917 to the late Franklin William and Georgia Irene Carson Wood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mr. Wood was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia and was a retired superintendent of commercial construction building.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee Wood, Cornelia, GA; son, John W. Wood, Plymouth, MI; daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lee and John Fairbanks, White Lake, MI;; 4 grandchildren, Mike Fairbanks, Mark Fairbanks, Chris Wood and Greg Wood; 5 great-grandchildren, Isabel, Kira, Stella, Evelyn, and Zander Willis Fairbanks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 26, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8.
