Branson Ralph (Rabbit) Dowdy

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of
Branson Ralph (Rabbit) Dowdy, age 77, of Jefferson, who passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009.

Mr. Dowdy, a native of Jackson County, was a son of the late, Curtis M. Dowdy and the late, Addie Jackson Dowdy. He was a loving father, husband, and loyal friend to his family and friends.

Mr. Dowdy was a United States Army Veteran of World War II; and was retired from Reliance Electric after 23 years of service.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Lyndon Dowdy and sister: Annette Smith.

Survivors include his wife: Sandra Storey Dowdy of Jefferson. Daughter: Mandy McLeroy; daughter and son-in-law: Wanda and Dwight Standridge all of Jefferson. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 3 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from the Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Dugar Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Dowdy, Curtis Smith, Johnny Brown, Buzzy Blalock, Billy Barnett, Gerald Hart, Timmy Anglin, and Pierce Nelms. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Ward and Henley Wilkes.
