Bascom Willie (B.W.) Marshall

Mr. Bascom W. Marshall, age 81, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday April 26, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Marshall was born in Panama City, FL July 11, 1927. Mr. Marshall had lived in Lumpkin County for the past three years, and had lived in Folsom, LA for 37 years prior to moving to Lumpkin County. He was a retired tugboat captain and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was the son of the late William Monroe Marshall and Ruby Odom Marshall and was also preceded in death by brothers, James Marshall and Herman Marshall.

Mr. Marshall is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Ruby Marshall, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Bascom C. and Susan Marshall, Dahlonega, GA, Coy S. Marshall, Prentiss, MS, Patrick and Michelle Marshall, Phoenix, AZ; daughters and son-in-law, Ruby and Kenneth Bruhl, Dahlonega, GA, Brigette Marshall, Florida; brother, Alan Monroe Marshall, Harrisonburg, LA; sister, Edna Jean Markham, Panama City, FL. 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives also survive.

A graveside funeral service for Mr. Marshall is scheduled for 3 PM Tuesday April 28, 2009 at the Antioch Cemetery in Lumpkin County. Rev. Danny Jones will officiate.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
