James Rickey Cathey

James Rickey Cathey, age 55, of Cleveland Hwy. Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home North-Riverside Chapel with internment to follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Lamar Purcell and Reverend Clifford Allen will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Cathey was born on September 6, 1952 to James Horace Cathey and Annie Lee Sutton Cathey of Hall County. He worked for the Public Utilities Department in the City of Gainesville for many years and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Mr. Cathey was preceded in death by his father, James Horace Cathey and his wife, Sharon Gail Cathey. He is survived by his mother, Annie Lee Cathey , his son, Chris Myers, his son, Craig Myers, his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Kristen Myers, his sister, Carolyn Cathey, his sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Doyle Carney, nephew Michael Carney, and his nephew and wife, Matthew and Jennifer Carney all of Gainesville.
