Toy Clint Clarke, Jr.

Toy Clint Clarke, Jr., age 68 of Lula passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at his residence following a brief illness.

Clarke was born on June 20, 1940 in Cordele, Georgia to the late Toy Clint Clarke and Evelyn Brogdon Clarke. He graduated from Crisp County High School in Cordele and the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for many years in Blakely, Georgia before moving to Selma, Alabama where he was the chief pharmacist at a local hospital. In 1998, he moved to Gainesville, where we worked as a pharmacist at Winn-Dixie and CVS. Last year, he moved to Lula and retired.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lula.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Clarke, of Lula, his two sons, Mitch Clarke, executive editor of The Times, and Marvin Clarke, a teacher at Lakeview Academy, and his wife, Sharon, all of Gainesville, stepson, Justin Hood of Lula; his sister, Jeannine Chapman of Oakfield, Georgia, uncle, James L. â
