Hoyt Dorsey Davidson

Obituary Date: Thursday, July 9, 2009
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Oak Grove Baptist Church for Hoyt Dorsey Davidson, age 91 of Gainesville. The Rev. Brian Malcolm , Rev. Clack Stubbs, and Rev. Jason Buffington will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 11th from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at the funeral home. Mr. Davidson passed away on Thursday, July 9th at Northeast GA. Medical Center.

The family asks that any former pastors of the church and the deacons to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Mr. Davidson was born March 24, 1918 in Jackson County to William & Molly Porter Davidson and was one of 13 Children. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II . Mr. Davidson retired from Chicopee Manufacturing and after retiring he loved working in his garden and repairing lawn mowers for friends and family. He was a long time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, had served as Deacon, Deacon Chairman, Sunday School Superintendant, and Head of the Renovation Committee Member of Opals and always loved his Pastors through the years. Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Smith Davidson.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Hoyt Davidson to Oak Grove Baptist Church 2414 Athens Hwy. Gainesville, GA. 30507.

Mr. Davidson is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Bill & Bobbie Davidson of Gainesville, Gerald & Doris Davidson of Chestnut Mt., Wayne & Paula Davidson of Gainesville, Tony & Sharon Davidson of Lula; grandchildren and spouses: Chris Davidson, Tim & Christy Davidson, Daryle & Amalia Davidson, Jason & Dee Dee Buffington, Scott & Missie Davidson, Tim & Sherry Millwood, Amanda & Jason Thompson, Caleb Davidson, Chelsie Davidson, Cody Davidson; great grandchildren: Breck Davidson, Bailey Davidson, Jacob & Jenna Buffington, Josh & Kadi Davidson, Austin, Cohen, & Allison Millwood, Emma & Jacob Thompson; sister: Lucy Garrett of Maysville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.
