John Henry Chambers

John Henry Chambers, age 77 of Demorest, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County, GA on August 17, 1931, he was the son of the late Jim & Minnie Skelton Chambers. Mr. Chambers was a member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church and was retired from Mize Lumber Company. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, fishing, and camping. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Delmar and Junior Chambers; brothers-in-law, Garland Caudell, Hewey Hallford, Paul Darnell and Glenn Hogan.

Surviving are wife of 56 years, Janie Lou Chambers of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol & James Dockery of Demorest and Sharon & Dale Ansley of Mt. Airy; daughter, Peggy Jo Chambers of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Jim & Pat Chambers of Demorest; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emory & Annette Chambers of Demorest and Clyde & Ruthaleen Chambers of Cleveland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jimmie & Jimmy Jenkins of Clarkesville, Hallie & Terrell Warwick of Cleveland; sisters, Betty Caudell of Cleveland, Grace Darnell of Cornelia, Renora Hallford of Demorest and Lois Hogan of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Annie Chambers of Cleveland and Frances Lewallen of Baldwin; grandchildren, Jamie Ivester, Jessica Speed, Justin Chambers, Ashley Wynveen, Shelby Ansley, Brandon Ansley and Chris Ansley; great-grandchildren, Adam Ivester, Logan Ivester, Noah Ivester, Peyton Speed, Regan Speed, Madison Ansley, Jeremy Wynveen, Ashton Wynveen, Katlyn Ansley, Spencer Ansley and Cooper Ansley; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. J. R. Elrod and Rev. Bobby Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kenneth Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence.
