Lois Beach Mathis

Mrs. Lois Beach Mathis, 86, of Allen Street, Oakwood died Friday July 31, 2009.


Mrs. Mathis was born September 23, 1922 to the late Homer and Hattie Grindle Beach. She graduate from Airline High School and was a lifelong resident of Hall County. She was married to Mr. James S. Mathis for 66 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.


Mrs. Mathis is preceded in death by her husband, James Steed Mathis, son, James David Mathis, brother, Rufus Beach and sister-in-law, Sara Copelan.


Survivors include her son, Michael Mathis, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Randall and Carolyn Mathis, Martin, Ga.; two sisters, Corene Tatum, Gainesville and Fran Roure, Decatur, Ga.; sister-in-law Bobbie Beach, Gainesville; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and special friends, Dellie Mae and Joe Guyton and Judy Oliver.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 2, 2009 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday August 1, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
