William Randolph Dixon

William Randolph Dixon, age 85 of Demorest, passed away Sunday, August 09, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Gashton County, North Carolina on September 13, 1923, he was the son of the late William Ray and Margaret Busch Dixon. Mr. Dixon was employed in the textile industry with 45 years of service and attended Good News Baptist Church. He served our country proudly in the United States Army during the American Theater Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign, Philippine Liberation Campaign and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed attending gospel singing events, and playing his guitar and harmonica. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Richard Hobart Dixon; sisters, Ruby Turner and Margie Billings and brothers, J. C. Dixon and Earl Dixon.

Surviving are son and daughter in-law, John Henry & Judy Dixon of Stanfield, NC; step-daughters, Janice Wood and Barbara Eller both of Clarkesville and Gail Lewallen of Alto; brothers, William Ray Dixon, Jr. of Grier, SC and Bobby Dixon of Cramerton, NC; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
