Clarence Simmons

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Clarence Grover Simmons, age 100, of Jefferson, who passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009. Mr. Simmons was born on August 19, 1909, a son to the late William and Laura Jane Smith Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a retired farmer, truck driver and was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Faye Garrett Simmons, a daughter, Vivian Wilkes and a son, Douglas Simmons.

Survivors include daughters, Olivia Baratta and Barbara Pardue both of Winder, son, Clarence Simmons Jr., Jefferson, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 2PM in the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Hewett officiating. The burial will follow in the Barrow Memorial Gardens. Honored as pallbearers will be Derek Pardue, Deron Pardue, Shawn Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Ryan Simmons and Mike Simmons. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9pm at the funeral home.
