Charles M. Smelcer

Mr. Charles M. Smelcer age 91 of Cleveland passed away Tuesday September 15, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Smelcer was born in Greene County Tennessee to the late Charles and Mary Jeffers Smelcer. Mr. Smelcer was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter in the construction industry and a member of Carpenters Local 225 for 65 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Dessie Smelcer, Cleveland; sons: Jim Smelcer, Ellijay and Bill Smelcer, Powder Springs; daughter: Lynn Smith of Port Orange, FL; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grand-children.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009 from Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Pritchett officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
