Lela P. Cape

Lela P. Cape, 74, of New Smyrna Beach, FL who was the owner and manager of Grizzle Mobile Home Park in Oakwood, GA for many years, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach.

Mrs. Cape was born in Gainesville, GA and moved to New Smyrna Beach twenty-one years ago from Oakwood. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach; was an avid golfer and very active in several community charities. Survivors include one son, Charles (Crystal) Grizzle of Panama City, FL; one step son, Marty (Diane) Cape of Gainesville, GA; two sisters, Emma White of Melbourne, FL and Marie (Jerry) Truelove of Maysville, GA; two grandchildren, Jeread Grizzle and C. J. Cain; two step grandchildren, Justin and Hunter Cape; several nephews and nieces and many friends, especially Pat Karwoski; friends and caregivers, Tim and Genie Thomas and her pet therapy dog Recon. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Cape on September 4, 2009; two brothers, Levi and John Henry Parker and her parents, Eston Parker and Pearl Hamilton Parker.

A memorial service for both Lela and David will be 2PM Monday, October 19, 2009 at Hidden Lakes Country Club, 35 Fairgreen Avenue, New Smyrna Beach. Cremation will be by Dudley Crematory, New Smyrna Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or to American Cancer Society Research, 1620 S. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32119.
