Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Barbara Jean Shubert Abernathy, age 50 of Helen. Mrs. Abernathy passed away Thursday, October 08, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 11, 2009 from Dukes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. George Wooten and the Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Abernathy was born in Jonesville, VA. on January 31, 1959 to Donald D. Shubert and Freddie jean Neice Shubert. She had lived most of her adult life in White County and was of the Baptist faith
Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her husband, Mitchell Abernathy, Helen; daughter and son in law, Crystal & Alex Davenport, Blairsville; son and daughter in law, Jeremy & Haley Wiley, Helen; parents, Donald & Freddie Shubert, Blairsville; brother, Donald Ray Shubert, Buford; grandchildren, John Robert Sexton and James Jesse Wiley
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 9 PM.
