Thomas Russell Wood

Funeral services for Thomas Russell Wood, age 82, of The Batesville Community, Clarkesville, will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2:00 PM from the Providence Baptist Church. Dr. Don Drawdy will officiate with burial to follow the service in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wood passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009.

Born on August 23, 1927, in Habersham County, Mr. Wood was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Elzia Arrendale Wood. Mr. Wood was a United States Army Veteran and he was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Wood was a retired Brick Mason with Atlantic Steel. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood is preceded in death by brothers Charles and Raymond Wood and sister Ruth Bennett.

Survivors include daughter Connie Powell of Atlanta, daughter and son in law Cathy and Jim Sanders of Marietta, son Kenneth Wood of Clarkesville, sisters Imogene White of Los Angeles, California and Kathleen Gragg of Clarkesville, sisters and brothers in law Blondine and V.L. Lovell, Marie and Charles Roper, and Sandra and Odis Barron all of Clarkesville, as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 5495 Highway 197 S. Clarkesville, on Monday, October 12, 2009, from 6-8 PM.
